Correale Stevens, 66, of Luzerne County will be sworn in as a state Supreme Court justice on Tuesday. He replaces Joan Orie Melvin, 57, of Marshall, who resigned in May after becoming only the second sitting justice in the history of the nation’s oldest appellate court to be convicted of a crime.

Corbett of course was going to pick a Repub. However, the Dems used the constitutional requirement that the nominee win 2/3rds of the Senate in order to pressure Corbett to select a moderate. The Constitution saved us from another Scalia.
