Related: About this forumRepub strategists: Corbett just needs better marketing. He spent too much time on moral high ground
http://www.philly.com/philly/news/local/20130721_While_some_fret_over_his_polls__Corbett_digs_in.htmlPhil Inquirer Article that includes quotes from anonymous Republican strategists about Corbett's chances for re-election. The article says Corbett is still seriously running, and no Repub opponent is making any effort to challenge him. Excerpts:
"More broadly, these people said Corbett advisers had shown a lack of political skill in selling the governor's accomplishments.
"He doesn't understand retail politics," this source said. "It's nice to take the moralistic high road and say, 'I am doing what I said I was going to do, and if people don't like it, there's nothing I can do,' " said the adviser. "I don't accept that, and neither should the people around him. You can still do what you said you were going to do, but market it better."

You've been away for far too long
You're out of touch, my baby
My poor old fashioned baby
I said, baby, baby, baby, you're out of time
You are all left out
Out of there without a doubt
Cause baby, baby, baby, you're out of time"

(18,219 posts)who is not a liar and a slimy cheat. He is so wonderful, trying so so hard to keep his promises even if he is not good at marketing those promises.
Yeah, right. Or he could be a megalomaniac who thinks he is king of PA.
You choose.

"We are going to start to tell his story," Corbett campaign manager Mike Barley said. "We're going out there and say he's kept taxes low and reduced the size of government and he's created 116,000 new jobs. There are some things he's done for veterans and some things on property tax reform. Whatever.
"We are going to have to get out and educate because the governor is not a politician," Barley said. "He's not out talking about his accomplishments and beating his chest. It's not his style."

The word Whatever is not my insertion. He actually said in effect: yea he did something for some veterans and talked about property taxes. Whatever.
(Not many people know this about him, but he's actually half Black and half White. The right half is Black)

(6,819 posts)Yes, that took some chutzpah for the reporter to include the "whatever" quote. Most reporters would have cleaned up the guy's wording and left it out. I bet it is the last time that reporter is able to talk to Corbett's campaign manager.

The "advisor" had one thing right: whatever.
