New Democratic PA. Attorney General Kathleen Kane is engaging an independent counsel to investigate the glacial slowness of the investigation of Sandusky by then-Attorney General Corbett. Here's links to some of the questions being asked. Was he completely incompetent or did he hold up the investigation for political reasons? There doesn't seem to be a third alternative.

(These posts by the way are by the guy (or girl) whose identity Corbett was determined to uncover. As Attorney General, Corbett convened a top secret Grand Jury to issue a subpeona to Twitter to order them to give Corbett the person's identify. Twitter was ordered to not to publicly reveal the subpeona. Fortunately, Twitter went public, and Corbett became a national laughingstock for a few weeks.)
Excerpts:
From March 2009 through November 2011, did Sandusky molest any young boys who were unknown to prosecutors and werent part of the trial? It seems unlikely given the international news focus on the Sandusky case and litigation by victims well under way. ~~ Tom Corbett apologist Brad Bumsted,...
How, exactly, did international news focus and litigation by victims, which didn't happen until 2011, influence Sandusky's behavior in 2009 and 2010?...
If only Corbett had had access to experts, who might know a little something about the behavior of sexual offenders. Experts, perhaps, like the members of Corbett's much-vaunted Child Predator Unit." (who were not assigned to the Sandusky investigation)

Enquiring minds want to know. It would explain much.

(16,079 posts)It was all about Corbett needing the support of the PSU Alumni in his run for Governor...if he had done his job as AG he probably wouldn't be the governor today!
But for single minded people like Corbett the crimes committed by Sandusky were secondary to his political career.
It's just a theory, but you have to admit it's a plausible one!

(4,033 posts)Corbett knew he couldn't offend PSU, alumni & business people. If he did, his financial support from this area would diminish.

(35,699 posts)Lot of unanswered questions, imo and hard to believe that Sandusky's relationship with PSU and Joe Paterno did not play a role. Something stinks in Denmark and it isn't the cheese.
