Teabagger school board member tries to stop formation of a UNICEF club in public high school

http://blogs.mcall.com/valley610/2012/05/saucon-valley-director-objects-to-unicef-club-but-board-overrides-him.html

"Saucon Valley School Board member Bryan Eichfeld last week objected to the board’s approval to allow high school students to organize a UNICEF club. As the board began discussion on the club, which would support the United Nations program helping poverty-stricken children throughout the world, Eichfeld said “studies have shown” that the United Nations is a “huge waste of money.”

Board member Charles Bartolet immediately asked Eichfeld, “What studies?”. Eichfeld said he didn’t have any handy but he has read them.

“Who says?” Bartolet returned. “WHO says?” Eichfeld had no answer.

The discussion led Eichfeld to question the value of the UN, which then led board solicitor Mark Fitzgerald to warn them that they don’t want to get into an issue that raises First Amendment problems, explaining that they can’t approve one group and deny another.

When the board asked where the idea for the new club came from, High school Assistant Principal Lorie Gamble said, “A group of students came forward and put together a proposal.” The board voted 8 to 1 in favor of creating the UNICEF club. "

Remember UNICEF is not even an international political organization - it is a hunger and medical relief organization.

The discussion led Eichfeld to question the value of The United Nations, which then led board solicitor Mark Fitzgerald to warn them that they don’t want to get into an issue that raises First Amendment problems, explaining that they can’t approve one group and deny another.

“So we can have a KKK group come in?” Eichfeld asked, referring to the Ku Klux Klan.

Eichfeld drew no response from Fitzgerald or other board members.

What an ass.

Wins today's Warrior for Truth Award!!!!

We HAVE TO challenge these people when they make crap-based assertions like this and attempt to hijack the decision process, basing their crusade on those bogus and utterly illegitimate "sources." Maybe this guy went to Regent or Liberty "University"?

This is the only way to fight them and win. Throw it back in their faces and demand proof, which they won't have because this shit is just made up on some biased, compromised, agenda-driven breitbart-wannabe blog or drudge dreck. They should start being force-fed the response message - "tell it to the Tooth Fairy." "Nice fairytale there! Straight outta Mother Goose and the Brothers Grimm."
