Ohio Sen. Kenny Yuko says he's cancer free
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Sen. Kenny Yuko said Wednesday he is now cancer free, after being diagnosed last year with metastatic cancer in lymph nodes in his neck.
In a message on Facebook, the Richmond Heights Democrat thanked family, friends, staff members and supporters for praying for him and checking on him while he received treatment at University Hospital.
Yuko, 66, announced his diagnosis in August on Facebook and said he would take a short break from the legislature. Yuko documented his treatment with occasional Facebook posts.
Yuko promised to be back before the Browns were "officially" eliminated from the playoffs. He almost made that deadline, finishing radiation and chemotherapy in November and returning to the Senate chamber at the end of the month.
