Kroger announces facilities expansion in Cincinnati

Kroger Co. said Monday it plans to invest $46 million over the next five years to open new facilities in Blue Ash, a suburb of its headquarters city of Cincinnati.

The money will come from part of a 10-year jobs creation tax credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, the company said.

The investments will include a new distribution center and a facility to house the company’s human resources recruiting center, its pharmacy customer call center and part of its digital team, a spokesman told SN.

Kroger purchased the Blue Ash distribution center in April from SpartanNash — a facility the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based wholesaler closed last year after consolidating distribution in facilities in Lima and Bellefontaine, Ohio.

the infrastructure is poor, including utilities, one of several factors P&G is closing their Blue Ash facilities and moving them to Mason. There are going to be a lot of high paying jobs from P&G moving to Mason to the detriment of Blue Ash's income tax base. Electrical outages are common in Blue Ash and Duke Energy (formally CG&E) and Blue Ash have done nothing about it. The problem has been ongoing since at least the late 80's. There is also sewer and water issues.
