NC Senate approves fracking bill
"The debate and vote in Raleigh took place just hours after the U.S. Geological Survey issued an estimate that the state has 1.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas in prehistoric shale rock formations, equivalent to about 5.6 years of usage based on 2010 consumption in North Carolina, said Kenneth Taylor, assistant N.C. state geologist.
Opponents of fracking seized on the federal report to urge delay of legalizing the practice, but Rucho was not moved.
"The only way youll ever know is by actually punching down some wells," Rucho said.
The measure passed on a vote of 29-19."

(15,189 posts)Fracking is dangerous, and shouldn't be allowed. It's not worth it.

I feel sick, but that's par for the course lately in this state.

(4,982 posts)I knew the Rethugs would ram that through. I'm guessing NC will never have a Dem legislature again and even if it did, the greedy oils & gas barons will never stop their rape of our property & the ruination of our health & lives in this state once they're allowed to start.
