Fiddlers convention returns to Ashe Aug. 1-2

Ashe County Park in Jefferson will be filled with the sounds of old-time and bluegrass music, as the Ashe County Bluegrass and Old-Time Fiddlers Convention tunes into the area.

Gates open at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2.

Competition for adults and youth will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Awards will be presented on Saturday for youth, adult band and adult individual divisions.

The convention, presented by the Ashe County Arts Council, will showcase musical talent and the heritage of the High Country with musicians playing in a variety of categories, including folk song, dulcimer, autoharp, adult individual competitions and adult band competitions. The youth band and youth individual competitions will be held on Saturday.
