Moffit displays ALEC’s typical disdain for the wishes of the majority. Dismissing the fact that 86% of Asheville’s voters voted against the water referendum who do your politicians represent saying, tut, tut, that the referendum was not “to the issue discussed”. 86% of Asheville voters knew what was being discussed, but not their state representative?

The answer can be found in this same meeting when Moffitt is dissing the Mountain Moral Monday protesters that would be assembling in Asheville that very day. He states, tut, tut, that “we predicted this would happen in 2011 when it started in WI and moved to MI and we predicted it would be 18 months before it hit in North Carolina.”

Who is WE? Art Pope was not yet in full control of the legislators whose campaigns he had funded, as there was still a democrat governor with veto power. Pat McCrory was still acting like a moderate republican as mayor of Charlotte. So WE isn’t the NCGA.
