Related: About this forum"Thankful Tuesday" compliments of the NC GOP!
Dear Patriots,
On Tuesday July 16th, Republicans and supporters will gather at the North Carolina General Assembly to meet, network, socialize and hear from our Republican members and leaders. We will be meeting behind the Legislative Building on Halifax Mall (pictured below). The theme of the event will be to thank our legislators for their efforts on so many major policy changes that were desperately needed in our state after decades of failed Democrat control.
Come join us to "Thank Our Legislators" for a job well done. It is important for our representatives to hear from us. See you on "Thankful Tuesday" this Tuesday July 16th at 5pm, at 16 West Jones Street in Raleigh!
Cheers,
Claude

. . . gerrymandering, voter suppression & the gutting of the VRA, the abolition of unemployment insurance in the state, unconstitutional denial of healthcare to those uppity women, and legislative rape (ultrasound bills) - and that they can now force the poor & middle class to pay the taxes for the wealthy & corprats.

http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/07/15/3031913/gop-supporters-to-gather-at-legislature.html
Slated to speak so far are Clarence Henderson, a conservative speaker and participant in a 1960 sit-in to protest racial segregation in Greensboro; N.C. Republican Party Chairman Claude Pope; and Joyce Krawiec, the N.C. GOP vice-chairwoman. Rusher invited state legislators, but none had confirmed as of late Monday. A reception will follow in the Rotunda.
Speakers will focus on two key issues, tax reform and Voter ID laws, Rusher said.
We actually have overwhelming support for Voter ID, and were happy to be moving on that one as well, he said. After a state Voter ID bill sat in a Senate committee for two months, a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the 1965 Voting Rights Act has brought it back into play. The bill will come up in the Senate Rules Committee this week, said Chairman Tom Apodaca, a Hendersonville Republican.
Francis De Luca, president of the Civitas Institute, a conservative think tank, said he doesnt support holding an event like Thankful Tuesday. The left-wing groups that gather on Mondays have more heft than Thankful Tuesday organizers. If the GOP did manage to draw a big crowd, itd be quite a success, he said.
Its a lot harder to get people to come out and support things that people are doing than it is to get them to rally against something, De Luca said.
Republican leaders want to reward legislators for sticking to their principles during a tumultuous session, said Donna Williams, the Wake County GOP chairwoman. The event has evolved over time its name changed from Truthful Tuesday to Thankful Tuesday.

to supporting Voter ID laws in 2013? Embracing conservative "principles" is one thing, but that baffles me.

but cheer this:
The myths versus the reality of the tax plan (NC Policy Watch)
Myth: Everyone in North Carolina will have more money in their pocket under the new tax plan unveiled by House and Senate leaders this week.
Reality: Many people will see fewer dollars in their pockets. With the elimination of the state Earned Income Tax Credit nearly 1 million North Carolinians will likely have less money, including 64,000 military families.

They don't see the disconnect, or have some loopy logic to defend it. "Patriots," my a$$.
