NC Dems director resigns, denies harassment allegations

Any truth to this or is it just a good ol boys Republican / media smear job?

RALEIGH, N.C. — The executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party resigned Sunday amid increasing frustrations and ire among party activists over high turnover at the party headquarters and harassment allegations there.

Jay Parmley, who became the top administrator last year after holding a similar post in South Carolina, submitted a resignation letter in which he vehemently denied harassing any party worker.

Party leaders raised concerns after e-mails circulating within the media late last week mentioned the allegations.

. . .

Parmley's departure is the latest setback for a state party that has been coming to terms with Republicans holding the majority in the state House and Senate for the first time in 140 years. Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue surprised many in January by announcing she wouldn't seek re-election, forcing other party leaders to scramble to run for governor. Six Democrats are running in the May 8 primary.

"Parmley blamed the controversy on the conservative Civitas Review Online and the blog The Daily Caller. They reported he'd been accused of sexually harassing a male staffer and the staffer had been paid in a settlement that included a non-disclosure agreement. "

Thanks for the info. Did I miss it or did the WRAL piece conveniently leave that out? Now that ALEC/Koch Bros control NC, I expect to see a whole lot (more) of this crap from them, along with more of their 'model' legislation.
