Politicians and billionaires re-open NYU Langone Medical Center emergency department

A group of politicians and billionaires who don’t always see eye to eye gathered at NYU Langone Medical Center Thursday morning to heap praise on each other and re-open the emergency department that was severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy almost two years ago.

The event was ostensibly to honor billionaire Ron Perelman, who gave $50 million and his name to the new Perelman Emergency Center. But it was treated as an opportunity for compliments all around.

Gov. Cuomo sat between Home Depot billionaire Ken Langone -- who serves as chairman of Republicans for Cuomo -- and Mayor de Blasio.
