Most influential: Gillibrand, Putin and the Pope

Jordan Carleo-Evangelist, Staff Writer

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has been named to Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people, joining the likes of President Barack Obama, new Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, Senate colleague Rand Paul, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Pope Francis.

The junior senator from New York, who gained national prominence this year for her unsuccessful crusade to reform the way the military handles sexual assault allegations, is praised in the magazine’s feature by one of her Republican predecessors: Former Republican U.S. Sen. Al D’Amato.

To have influence and use it to promote pogroms is to be a moral failure.

I think it is time for the Episcopal Church to suspend aid to the Anglican Church of Uganda.
