State Controller DiNapoli strikes deal with Comcast to disclose company's campaign spending

Cable giant Comcast has become the latest company to agree to disclose its spending on political campaigns under pressure from state Controller Thomas DiNapoli.

Comcast, which is in the midst of a merger with Time Warner Cable, agreed to make public its campaign spending after DiNapoli – the sole trustee of New York’s mammoth pension fund – filed a shareholder resolution in December seeking to have the information made public. The pension fund owned 7.9 million shares of Comcast valued at $383.7 million as of early March.

To whom did Comcast actually contribute?

It's of more than passing interest because of the curious involvement of Sen. Schumer's lawyer-brother in drafting the merger.

Among other reasons.
