NYSUT delegates reiterate: King must go

Casey Seiler, Capitol bureau chief

The New York State United Teachers union has taken the opportunity of its Representative Assembly gathering to repeat its call for the removal of state Education Commissioner John King, whose identification with the controversial implementation of the Common Core educational standards has painted a very large NYSUT target on his back.

The vote by almost 3,000 delegates backs up January’s approval of a no-confidence resolution on King by NYSUT’s 80-member board of directors.
