NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman Won't Represent Sheldon Silver In Scandal Lawsuit

Aides to Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver late last week wouldn’t say who will represent him and the Assembly against two lawsuits brought by two alleged Vito Lopez victims — but it won’t be state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Schneiderman insiders say he will take a pass because the AG’s office was mentioned in a state ethics commission report for having played a small, advisory role in the secret $103,000 taxpayer-funded settlement Silver okayed for two earlier Lopez accusers.

But others say Schneiderman simply doesn’t want to defend the unpopular Silver against two sexual harassment victims.
