Silver: Rumors of my going home are greatly exaggerated

Rick Karlin, Capitol bureau

With about 12 hours to go before budget bills need to be printed in order to have an on-time budget, things are not going particularly smoothly — although no one is talking yet about blowing Monday night’s deadline.

Suggesting some agita among the Four Men in the Room, Democratic Assembly Majority Speaker Sheldon Silver took an unusual circuit of the third floor, collecting reporters as he passed through the hallway outside the press room, through the Senate lobby and back to his Assembly chambers. Silver, who doesn’t often wander around the Capitol, was clearly making the point that contrary to rumors — rumors that he implies started on the second floor — he was still in Albany.

“Rumors of my having left town are not accurate,” Silver said.
