TOWN OF ULSTER >> By the end of June, Hudson Valley Mall may institute a parental escort policy that would require youths 17 and younger to be accompanied by a parent or over-21 guardian on Friday and Saturday nights, the malls general manager said Friday.
In what he intended to be a private letter to law-enforcement agencies, town and village boards, county officials, church leaders, youth group leaders and other stakeholders, Terry Parisian said the U.S. Route 9W mall has begun the process to implement the policy. He said it would be in effect from 4 p.m. to close and that it would apply to the entire mall property, with the exception of anchor stores and theater. Included, he said, would be walkways, roads leading to mall, as well as parking area.
The letter, dated Jan. 21, was received by town of Ulster officials on Wednesday and discussed at an Ulster Town Board meeting on Thursday. Parisian said on Friday that invitation-only meetings to discuss the policy will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. April 2 in the malls community room.
