State Sen. Greg Ball Says "Extremist" Mayor De Blasio Is Aiding Terrorists With ID Card Plan

State Sen. Greg Ball, leader of the Senate’s Homeland Security Committee, slammed Mayor de Blasio’s plan to issue municipal ID cards to illegal immigrants as a “Homeland Security Nightmare.”

Ball, a Putnam County Republican, said he would hold a Feb. 28 hearing in the city on what he dubbed a “hair-brained” scheme by a “crazed mayor.” He went so far as to suggest the mayor could be guilty of a federal crime for “aiding and abetting” terrorists and warned de Blasio must be stopped.

De Blasio announced his plan for the ID cards during the State of the City Address this week. He said the cards would make it easier for immigrants to open bank accounts, lease apartments or borrow library books.

During Ball's interview with Piers Morgan, he addressed Morgan as "dude," made fun of his British accent, talked about himself in the third person, and actually challenged the host to arm wrestle. It was as if he was caught between the reality of his job and the Chuck Norris poster that no doubt hangs above his dresser.
