Eyewitness News

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York City Council is set to pass a first-of-its-kind bill Wednesday that would raise minimum age to buy tobacco from 18 to 21.

The legislation unanimously passed the health committee on Tuesday.

It will make New York the first city in the country with a minimum tobacco age over 19.

It also bans selling tobacco products at any kind of discount.
