Car fire ignites blaze that kills four family members in Westchester County

MOUNT VERNON – Investigators in Mount Vernon said a car that caught fire next to a house at 11 South Bond Street in that city early Tuesday morning, set the house on fire and killed four family members.

Officials don’t know what caused the car, which was parked next to the home, to catch fire, but the flames spread to the house as the family was sleeping.

Killed in the blaze were Alcedo Urena, about 60, his wife Nancy, 39, his son Jesus, 21, and his daughter, Mariselis, 18. Another son, Reymondo, 19, escaped with burns.
