Rockland brush fire spreads to 85 acres



Eyewitness News

RAMAPO, New York (WABC) -- Fire officials are battling a brush fire in Ramapo, Rockland County.

There is about 85 acres involved in the fire on Torne Road.

There are 100 firefighters on the ground from Mahwah, Rockland and Orange Counties.

There are also helicopters, including two from West Point that are doing water drops over the fire.

Brush fires are what we get here in SoCal when the chaparral ignites.

Forest fires are not limited to pine forests on mountainous federal land in the West.
