Bill de Blasio Holds Huge Lead Over Joe Lhota in Latest Poll

By
Michael Howard Saul

Democrat Bill de Blasio leads Republican Joe Lhota by 44 percentage points in the race for New York City mayor, signaling the first face-to-face debate between the major candidates did little to help the GOP nominee, according to a poll released Monday.

With the election just 15 days away, Mr. de Blasio, the city’s public advocate, is leading Mr. Lhota, a former chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, 68% to 24% among likely voters, according a survey from the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Mr. Blasio outpaced Mr. Lhota, 71% to 21%, in the institute’s last poll on Oct. 3.

Adolfo Carrion, a former Bronx borough president who is running on the Independence Party line, is a non-factor in the race, polling at 2%. The survey found 5% of likely voters remain undecided and only 8% of those who identified a candidate said there’s a “good chance” that they will change their mind before the Nov. 5 election.

I like these numbers a lot!

Mr. de Blasio is ahead among black voters (94% to 5%); Latinos (79% to 10%); whites (54% to 42%); women (71% to 21%); men (65% to 29%); Democrats (86% to 9%); and unaffiliated voters (55% to 33%).

Go New York!

I am very happy to see this city has not fallen for it.
