Cuomo Argues Against Con Ed Plans To Raise Rates In 2014

NY1News

Governor Andrew Cuomo is arguing against Con Edison's proposal to raise rates in 2014.

The utility wants to increase electric rates by 8 percent, gas rates by 2.5 percent and steam rates by 2.3 percent.

Cuomo says that Hurricane Sandy and the recent disruption of service to the Metro-North line prove that the system is not reliable.

He says that the company should pay, not the customers.
