Baby Hope mom identified in 20-year cold case

Eyewitness News

NEW YORK (WABC) -- There is word police are closer to solving the cold case surrounding Baby Hope.

In July of 1991, the body of a young girl was found inside a cooler in a wooded area on the Henry Hudson Parkway and Dyckman Street in Washington Heights.

Detectives theorized at the time that she had been suffocated before being dumped like garbage on a grassy incline. They estimated she was dead six to eight days before the cooler was found.

Officials say NYPD outreach tied to the recent 22nd anniversary of the killing jogged the memory of a tipster, who remembered overhearing another woman discussing the case in a Washington Heights laundromat.
