Man murdered in broad daylight inside Brooklyn store

Eyewitness News
NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police are searching for a gunman and a motive after a Brooklyn store owner was shot and killed Monday afternoon.

The victim, 32-year-old Mohamed Bilal, leaves behind behind a wife and 2-month-old child.

The shooting happened on New Lots Avenue in East New York around 1:30 p.m.

Police say the suspect walked in and opened fire without exchanging any words with Bilal, and that robbery has been ruled out as a motive.

"A guy with a bike, he had on all black, he put his bike right here up against the fence," witness Ron Rogers said. "My understanding, he went and shot the guy, ran to his bike and took off."

The only question is, WHY?

It's not just a "variety" store, it's an internet cafe, and the guy who was murdered repaired computers and phones. The video said that there are video surveillance cameras inside the store; maybe that will help.

The guy was a Pakistani immigrant.
