Sen. Jose Peralta defects to IDC, sources confirm

ALBANY — Another member of the mainstream Democratic conference of the state Senate has defected to the chamber's Independent Democratic Conference, sources confirmed Wednesday.

Sen. Jose Peralta of Queens will become the eighth member of the IDC, which has allied with Republicans since it first split with the mainstream Democrats in 2011, two sources with knowledge of his decision told POLITICO. NY1 reported Wednesday morning that Peralta told them he made the decision because he was “at a crossroads.”
