City Officials Unveil New "Recycle Everything" Ad Campaign

Mayor Michael Bloomberg unveiled today the city's new "Recycle Everything" ad campaign, which is encouraging New Yorkers to take part in an expanding food waste recycling program and double the city's recycling rate to 30 percent by 2017.

According to the mayor, the city produces 11,000 tons of waste every day.

In April, the city began to recycle hard plastics, and earlier this year the city issued bins and plastic bags to collect food scraps in select locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island.

The mayor reported that at the Morningside Gardens apartment buildings in Manhattan, the collection of food waste reduced the housing complex's trash output by 35 percent.

He even shot his own video for the commercial and everything.
