Chelsea Bar Stops Serving Russian Vodka To Bring Attention To Russia's Anti-Gay Laws

Anti-gay laws passed in Russia are prompting a Chelsea bar to join a number of bars across the country vowing to boycott Russian products. NY1's Polly Kreisman filed the following report.

There is a subtle change to the bar menu at Boxers NYC sports bar in Chelsea, as Stolichnaya brand Russian vodka is no longer served there. The bar's staff announced the move to make New Yorkers aware of anti-gay legislation recently passed in Russia.

"We are losing money, but at the end of the day, we are trying to prove a point. We are trying to raise awareness and bring support to the LGBT community in Russia," says Davidson Adames of Boxers NYC.

A number of bars across the country are vowing to boycott Russian products, to protest Russia's discriminatory laws, which include a measure forbidding even the discussion of homosexuality.
