Something fishy is going on in New York!
For the second time in two months, a state fishing record has been broken.
A Monroe County man on June 14 caught a freshwater drum from Irondequoit Bay in Lake Ontario near Rochester that broke the state record by more than 2 pounds, the state Department of Environmental Conservation announced today.
The DEC said the fish caught by James VanArsdall, of West Henrietta, measured 33.5 inches and weighed 26 pounds 9 ounces and breaks the previous state record by more than 2 pounds.

(17,320 posts)have I ever seen a drum with a reddish bronze color. Normally, drum fish a white, grey , with a touch of black here and there.
I just googled photos of freshwater drums. All were exactly as I described.
Nope, that fish is not a drum. He is some type of carp. They should hold off on the state record award.
