ALBANYSeveral casino bidders who say their proposed projects would help revitalize upstate communities are also seeking tens of millions of dollars in local property tax breaks.
Nevele, the company bidding to build a $640 million destination resort in the Ulster County village of Ellenville, is seeking $100 million in tax breaks over the next 15 years, including $87.5 million worth of property tax relief from the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency.
At least two other casino companies, Empire Resorts and Mohegan Sun, are also seeking property tax breaks for their proposed destination resorts in Sullivan County, the county legislatures chairman, Scott Samuelson, told Capital.
The companies say those tax concessions are necessary for their casinos to be competitive in case the state grants a license to a casino project in nearby Orange County, closer to New York City.

Added load to infrastructure without contribution to support it and then when the business takes a hike the people are left to clean up whatever mess they leave behind.
