Cuomo, Christie silent on joint-appearance rumor

ALBANY—Governor Andrew Cuomo's office has suggested teasingly that the governor will have a high-profile guest this year at the second annual "Adirondack Challenge," a weekend of activities near the hamlet of Indian Lake that draws attention to tourism opportunities in the Adirondack Park (and to the governor).

One rumor in New York political circles has it that the guest this year will be none other than Chris Christie.

Cuomo and Christie's people have refused to respond to repeated requests from Capital since this morning for confirmation of the rumor, with Cuomo's spokesman Matt Wing rushing off the phone when the possibility of an appearance by the scandal-tarnished Republican governor of New Jersey was broached.

Cuomo's guest for the 2013 excursion was then-New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who engaged in a whitewater-rafting race with the governor and then happily posed for pictures.

Apart from the fact that Christie is damaged goods, and this appearance can do ZERO good for Cuomo, isn't he afraid Christie's weight will sink the raft?
