Bishop Ford HS alumni launches last-ditch fight to save the soon-to-shutter school

In a Hail Mary bid to save Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School from a June closure, alumni have launched a fundraiser to salvage the 52-year-old institution.

“It’s not only about the fight to save Ford — it’s about the fight to save Catholic education,” said Bishop Ford Foundation president Joseph DiMauro, who has been involved in fundraising at the school for the past 20 years.

A financial plan, which was submitted to the school’s Board of Directors two weeks ago, borrows from a strategy developed after the school fell into debt two years ago and depends upon pledges of $1.5 million each year until 2017.
