Owego mayor admits to impaired driving

Owego Mayor Kevin Millar admitted Thursday in Waverly Village Court to driving while ability impaired, related to a Feb. 9 traffic stop in Owego.

In exchange for admitting to the violation, Millar received a conditional discharge, a 90-day driver’s license suspension, in addition to a $300 fine, according to a village court clerk.

Early on the morning of Feb. 9, a Tioga County sheriff’s deputy spotted Millar’s vehicle on Front Street in Owego without a front license plate, according to police records obtained by the Press & Sun-Bulletin. Millar told the deputy he had three drinks that evening, before revising the number to six drinks, according to police records.
