EPA, GE begin season five of Hudson dredging

By Richard Moody

New York's regional administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency revealed this year's plans for the annual dredging of the Hudson River's contaminated sediments saying there will be some "twists" this year.

For the last several years, General Electric has been responsible for dredging the Hudson River to rid the waterway of PCBs, which were used for electrical and manufacturing applications.

GE disposed of the PCBs in the Hudson legally for many years but reached an agreement with the EPA to clean them out of the sediment under the EPA's supervision
