New York City to Move Unidentified Sept. 11 Remains to New Museum Site

SARAH ROSE

The city has notified family members of people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that they will be able to witness the delivery Saturday of unidentified remains of victims to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum site.

The notification represents a departure from an agreement late in the Bloomberg administration.

The remains are set to be moved from the city's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on East 26th Street in a procession escorted by units of the New York Police Department, the Fire Department of New York and the Port Authority Police Department.

No ceremony is planned. Some family members said they planned to gather Saturday morning at the plaza near the museum to watch the arrival of the remains.
