ALBANYDuring their first meeting since the passage of the state budget, the Board of Regents celebrated the $340 million allocation for full-day pre-kindergarten while complaining about the way the program was set up by lawmakers.
The panel of education policymakers has deep concerns about the budget legislation regarding pre-K, chancellor Merryl Tisch said, particularly that it offers no additional funds to administer the statewide program.
Also, the budget offers schools little detail to inform planning such as whether the money could be used for transportation, and timing exacerbates that problem, since most districts must present proposed budgets to voters next month.

(112,234 posts)the pre-K students will be coloring in the bubbles with crayons on the standardized test response sheets. Only the good pre-K classes will be getting a bit of extra money from the state.

(14,449 posts)I feel 2014 MIGHT be different then the other mid-terms where Democrats don't vote. I think it will be a higher percentage this round....at least I hope so.

(14,449 posts)President Obama continues for two year (of course).....House Republican and Senate Democrat....Same ole crap for 2 more years. 2016 I THINK we will gain seats in the Senate and MAYBE take the House back....I know that is really far off but the Senate is supposedly good for the Republicans in 2014 and really good for the Democrats in 2016 and with Hillary as probable nominee, we will see people in droves voting that year just like 2008.

(14,449 posts)I am not sure the Republicans want that. I know John Boehner had that sideshow the other day, but that could have been theatrics.
