New Mexico Democrats pick new executive director
SANTA FE – The state Democratic Party has turned to a familiar face to serve as its next executive director – Chelsey Evans, who previously served as political director for the party.
Evans also has a background with Working America, a labor-affiliated political group.
She will succeed Joe Kabourek, who will step down this month after nearly four years as the top staffer for the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
“With over a decade of experience – inside the party and in New Mexico’s labor movement – Chelsey knows New Mexico inside and out,” Marg Elliston, chairwoman of the state Democratic Party, said in a written statement. “Her experience makes her the perfect choice as we continue to fight for New Mexico’s families and work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”
