An NJ Transit train derailed in Hoboken with 60 people on board
An NJ Transit train with 60 passengers on board derailed as it was entering Hoboken Terminal Sunday afternoon, more than two months after a commuter train crashed while entering the station.
The fourth and fifth cars of a six-car Bergen-Main Line train derailed at 12:30 p.m. Sunday as the train entered the terminal, said Jim Smith, an NJ Transit spokesman. No passengers were riding in the cars that derailed and no injuries were reported to passengers or the crew, he said.
The train departed Waldwick station at 11:35 a.m., and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 12:28 p.m., he said. Preliminary findings determined that actions by crew members were not a factor in the derailment, which remians under investigation, Smith said.
Mechanical factors are being investigated, officials said.
