Amy Senser: An apology, forgiveness, 41 months
The judge said he didn't entirely believe Amy Senser's account of the night she killed Anousone Phanthavong, citing "too many family secrets."

Moments before she began her 3 1/2-year prison sentence for striking and killing their son on a darkened freeway ramp, Amy Senser turned in her chair, raised her eyes to Anousone Phanthavong's parents and tearfully apologized.

"This isn't about me, and I've waited a long time to say I'm sorry," Senser told Keo and Phouxay Phanthavong. "I hope you can believe me that I never saw your son that night, and if I had I would have stopped to help him."

Senser's sentencing Monday was punctuated by the Phanthavong family's grief and accompanied by Senser's regret -- so deep, her attorney said, that she had Phanthavong's name tattooed on her wrist. It also marked the first time she said she was sorry, something Phanthavong's family said contributed to their closure as much as a prison sentence.

1. So many judges, lawyers and Congressmen drink and drive they oftren go easy on drunk traffic deaths.

Where the perp is white or suburban. Some kid punched another kid once resulting in a death in a park last year and he got life. A 14 year old girl in St Paul a while back only encouraged another teen to shoot someone in a street robbery death, she got life. On the other hand a suburban preachers kid was killed with a gun in a car by "friends" in a gas station parking lot and everyone got probation on misdemeanors. (Initiation?).

Minnesota ain't so nice anymore(or smart).

A cousin in law who is a MN Trooper was at the scene of the school bus crash in rural SW MN some years ago and even thought there was a death they had to go get a warrant to check blood alcohol/drugs on the drivers and that took a while. MN law. Seems that any time there is a death that should be mandatory so there is no speculation either way.

(what we all think, doesn't count) and, because no one knows if she was under the influence, these are pretty much the strongest charges that could have been brought (or so I heard on "The Morning Grind&quot .

Assuming she wasn't drinking, she could have avoided all this had she just stopped and called the police when she hit Phantavong. She might even have gotten by with no charges - not even a moving violation (again, so I heard on "Morning Grind&quot had the police been able to determine it was just a tragic accident. But, as it happenedn it really sounds like her attempts to avoid any responsibility is what really made the judge's mind up about sentencing.

I was afraid she'd get off with probabtion so, given that she didn't get much less than he maximum, I think the judge made the right decision. It also soundslike the Phanthavong family has believed and accepted her apology and accept how this turned out. And, IMO, it's how they feel that really matters.

9. Did anyone else find it strange that

Joe Senser wasn't present for the sentencing, not even to see her before she was led off to jail afterwards to begin serving her sentence? He was always there for everything else, even yelling frustrated threats at lawyers for the other side during the last hearing, yet he's not present for the sentencing? I wonder if that means trouble in paradise for the two of them.

Senser’s lawyer told the court she now has a tattoo of Phanthavong’s name on her wrist to remind her of her responsibility to his family.

All emphasis in the above is mine. Unbelievable. How is appealing a 27 month prison sentence (only 2/3 of the 41 months will be behind bars unless she screws up) taking responsibility?

princess has lived in "Amyworld" too long, she's never had to take responsibility for a long time. The fact that she was ready to blame her own stepdaughter, whom she helped raise, and have police think the SD was driving the car, rather than admit to it herself, tells you all you need to know about the true character of this bitch and of her loser father who is strained now in his relationship with his daughter simply because she demanded that they tell the truth and not put the blame on her when she had nothing to do with it. Fuckers, both of them.
