Taste of Minnesota to return to St. Paul in 2014

After a three-year hiatus owing to bankruptcy, the Taste of Minnesota will return to St. Paul next summer under new ownership and the former management team that ran it successfully for several years.

The festival will be held July 3-6 at Harriet Island, promising the old formula — food, family fun, music and fireworks — that made it one of the Twin Cities’ most popular summer festivals since the early 1980s.

The new owner is 10K Lakes Inc., a group of metro-area investors interested in local projects and events. Members of the group approached Linda Maddox, the festival’s former manager and widow of Taste co-founder Ron Maddox, to gauge her interest in putting back together her team to run the event next summer. She agreed.

“I’m just very excited ... The next steps are going to be fun,” she said at the announcement Thursday morning at Harriet Island.
