So now Phillips wants Biden to smoke weed

At least this is the title of his recent email. Asking for money, of course.

In the body of the mail he says

It’s likely that Joe Biden has never smelled weed, let alone smoked it.

We wouldn’t recommend it — but it’s absolutely absurd that a naturally occurring plant on which no human has overdosed remains a Schedule I narcotic in America.

It should be legalized immediately and turned over to the States for regulation.

Across the country, we have seen legalization sweep red and blue states. It’s been approved by state legislatures and voters alike. And it’s time we treat it differently at the federal level.

I agree that weed should be decriminalized at the federal level in sync with what many states are doing, but a president, whether or not he partakes himself, can’t just wave his hand and make that happen. As a Congressman Phillips knows that very well.

4. And I wonder now in how many states, is POT legal? From some of the stories, selling POT has been better

than expected and has provided an unexpected tax windfall for some states.

POT is medically legal in a number of states. And in other states, it is totally legal to buy POT (medically and recreational), and in some states, you can grow your own (a certain number of plants only from what I understand).

And in the remaining states, POT is not at all available medically or for recreational purposes. Let's guess how much tax revenue is being lost by these states, to the surrounding states that legalized POT in some fashion. A lot.

Taxpayers in these states should ask their state regulators or legislators why aren't we doing this? Perhaps these taxpayers are willing to allow their legislators, I don't know, raise property taxes and/or sales taxes to unheard of heights?

10. Yes! And I can remember that the KS folks were upset at those running to Colorado, to get stuff, drive

through KS on their way to points outside of KS.

I'm so happy that these recreational drugs are now legal to buy and use (at home), and thank goodness for realism in the real world kicking in finally and knocking some sense into some of these antidrug crowd. I even have friends that grow it in IL, legally of course, and it's a totally different game now, I even have friends that use it not for the 'kick' it provides, but for their eyes, and some even do it for the stress (to relieve).

And in MO, our sales taxes (in STLMO) is approaching 10% alone, if not more than 10%. Good grief. As a retiree, I don't want taxes to keep increasing, especially on these regressive taxes, the 10% sales tax is a whopper of an extra burden on families and the elderly (me), let alone the state and fed income taxes too. So, let our law enforcement work on other serious issues, and let the tax revenues roll in, and don't go after these 'white collar' crimes on a common drug that so many partake. We must have like 10 cannabis places (shops) within maybe 3-5 miles of us, nice.

Maybe they'll get the drift in KS, write the bills in KS to allow POT sales to benefit their farmers too, it could be an additional source of income for these farmers should the markets go down on Sunflowers, wheat, other crops that they raise in KS. But, to be honest w/ you, it's going to be too late for KS to really make an impact on POT sales, other than those in KS itself. Other states are enjoying the benefits now surrounding KS.

5. I think this is part of Phillips' "Biden is OLD" routine.

That is to say, young people want weed legalized; stuffy old people are still stuck in a Reefer Madness mentality. That’s completely false, of course; we old Boomers were the first generation to use a lot of it, and now that we’re old we’re customers for the medical version as well. But Phillips wants to remind us that old Joe doesn’t use weed, probably because he’s, you know… Old.

Slightly higher times: Biden administration moves to loosen weed restrictions:

The Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services is recommending that the Drug Enforcement Administration significantly loosen federal restrictions on marijuana but stopped short of advising that it should be entirely removed from the Controlled Substances Act.

The health agency wants the drug moved from Schedule I to Schedule III under the CSA, potentially the biggest change in federal drug policy in decades.

HHS Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine wrote in a Tuesday letter to the DEA, first reported by Bloomberg News, that the recommendation was based on a review conducted by the Food and Drug Administration.


The DEA confirmed to POLITICO that it received the letter.

“As part of this process, HHS conducted a scientific and medical evaluation for consideration by DEA. DEA has the final authority to schedule or reschedule a drug under the Controlled Substances Act,” a spokesperson for the agency said in a statement. “DEA will now initiate its review.”

The HHS letter is part of the official review process initiated by President Joe Biden last October: The FDA conducts the review, which is then sent to the National Institute on Drug Abuse and HHS, after which HHS transmits a letter of recommendation to the DEA. The DEA is not required to follow HHS’s recommendation.

Certainly a step in the right direction.

Not exactly sure what happened but it does sound like he (or his campaign) ignored an offer of help from the party to get on the ballot before the deadline.

He's starting to sound a lot like Trump.
