I am just barely old enough to remember a glimpse of old Detroit. My parents grew up there. We fled the city after the riots, it was very volatile, I was just starting 1st grade. Moved to the east side suburb, St. Clair Shores, my dad commuted downtown to GM every day.

I used to go downtown often as a young adult to attend the various ethnic festivals, go to the theater and restaurants, always loved Greektown! I haven't been in a few years but for a while there I did attend some of the state Dem party conventions held there. Great fun!

I would love nothing more than to see the fair city of Detroit reclaim her former glory. With each report of good news from the Big 3 and others, I am encouraged.

Julie--in Traverse City since 1990 but will always be a Motor City girl
