McDonough, ex-State House lobbyist, out of prison
Richard (Dickie) W. McDonough, a former high-flying State House lobbyist who was sentenced to seven years in federal prison in the corruption case that toppled former House speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi, is out of jail — and spotted around in downtown Boston recently.
McDonough, who was released this past summer from the federal prison at Fort Dix, N.J., has been living in a halfway house in the Boston area, according to those knowledgeable about his release.
His re-emergence has set some nerves rattling in the Beacon Hill lobbying community, particularly with reports that he is sniffing around about getting back into the State House lobbying business — where he was pulling down over $1 million a year.
“That would be interesting to see this unfold,’’ said one veteran State House lobbyist. “Guys up here are scared of their shadows after what went down with Sal and Dickie. There would be a call to shelter in place if he comes back.”
