Closing date set for Boston Flower Exchange South End property sells for millions

The 5.6 acre site in the city’s South End was sold last year. Details of the sale have not been released, but the land is reported to have sold for more than $40 million.
The building is home to 13 vendors, who sell flowers to retail stores.
Wonder what will happen to that property now....? End of an era....

That property is worth a bundle. I wonder what will go up there...and if it will include any affordable housing?
The city is becoming this little island of wealth, and all the regular people--never mind the poor--are being pushed to the suburbs. It's sad. Old neighborhoods are being overrun.
I think a lot of this has to do with the idea that parents don't want free range kids anymore. Hell, half of 'em don't even want to "go out to play." They'd rather stay in, in front of a screen. So why buy a backyard? Rich people can relive their carefree college years by having a NICE apartment in the city and raising their kids there. Since all play is supervised and helicoptered, it's no biggie to arrange a "play date" in the city.
But to get that, all the people who watch the children, who clean the apartments, who cater to the needs of the wealthy...they have to move away, and struggle to commute in to the Land of Oz.
I don't recognize the city skyline anymore...we've come a long way from this....
(they're still building the Hancock in this shot...before the glass fell terrifyingly to the pavement and people thought "Oh no, we've bought a white elephant!!"
I don't think we'll be slowing down in future--Boston is on a very different path than it was forty or fifty years ago!
