Car owners flock to body shops to repair hail damage

BOSTON —Severe thunderstorms pummeled many communities Tuesday, bringing strong winds that downed trees and utility poles, but large hail was also reported that caused damage to vehicles left unprotected in the elements.
"I thought the window was going to break out," car owner Jackie Shelton said. "I have never seen hail that big."
The 2-inch hail reported and photographed by residents throughout the Boston was larger than any hail storm recorded in Boston in the data kept since 1950.
The windows of her car held, but she and a lot of other vehicle owners are dealing with a lot of dents.
