SIMPLY SOUTH SHORE: He put the president in City of Presidents

The City of Presidents is named Quincy, but it could be called Adams as well, for John Adams.

The nation's second president and Revolutionary War leader is an abiding presence from one end of the city to the other. The Adams National Historical Park – which is located on Adams Street – is one of the South Shore's most popular tourist destinations. The birthplaces of him and his son, President John Quincy Adams, are over on Franklin Street.

The city has not one but two John Adams statues – a granite figure in Centennial Park along Newport Avenue, and a more recent bronze outside City Hall. Just off the Neponset River Bridge, visitors can stay the night at the Best Western Adams Inn, and dream patriot dreams.

When he had lots of fucks to give, he argued hard against slavery, but would not even raise the subject of equality for women, though his beloved wife asked him to do that.

His failure to get support for a revolution sans slavery was one of the heinous infamies that caused unspeakable suffering and has stained this country since its first white colonies. If ONLY! we had listened to John Adams.
