UPDATED 11:24 PM EDT Jul 31, 2015

BOSTON —With plans for an international gathering of athletes now scrapped, local Olympic organizers Steve Pagliuca and Richard Davey are detailing their dreams of creating a legacy in the city.

In an op-ed in Saturday's Boston Globe, they write, "We are confident that our planning for the Games, including our vision for Widett Circle and Columbia Point, will benefit Boston."

Mayor Marty Walsh says the details in the failed bid can provide a roadmap for important development in the city.

In the op-ed, Pagliuca and Davey admit it will be a challenge but say they want to make sure their work advances "important economic development, housing, infrastructure, and job creation opportunities throughout Boston and the Commonwealth."
