Anne Arundel county sheriff's stepson charged with threatening to kill him
Police have charged the stepson of Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman with threatening a public official after he allegedly told his sister he planned to kill the sheriff and his family.
County police arrested Walter Paul Robinson Jr., 23, of Ellicott City, Thursday, just hours after a District Court judge granted Bateman a protective order for himself and his family.
Lt. Ryan Frashure, a police spokesman, said Robinson is being held without bond following a bail review hearing Monday morning.
In the petition filed for a protective order, Bateman a veteran law enforcement officer and three-term sheriff wrote that Robinson called his sister on Wednesday and told her he would murder her family; murder the sheriff, his mother and then commit suicide, a copy of the request obtained by The Capital shows.
