Now it's up to Bevin: Limit on underage marriage in Kentucky wins legislative approval

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A bill to limit underage marriage in Kentucky won final approval in the Kentucky General Assembly just a few weeks after it got off to a rocky start in the legislature amid questions about parents' rights.

But the House passed it unanimously Friday with no debate after it passed the Senate last week amid some dissent.

Senate Bill 48, sponsored by Sen. Julie Raque Adams, a Louisville Republican, now goes to Gov. Matt Bevin for his signature.

Adams said Friday she was delighted by the final passage of the bill and will encourage Bevin to sign it into law.
